Inclusion Awareness Week Contest!

December 3-7, 2018 is Inclusion Awareness Week nationwide, and Oakton Elementary is a proud participant!  In honor of Inclusion Awareness Week, the PTA Special Education Committee is hosting a contest.

All OES students are welcome to enter!

Write a testimony about or create a video reenacting a time you participated in or witnessed students showcasing the spirit or the power of inclusion. Inclusion is the act of including and welcoming someone who may feel excluded from the community. It could be because of disability, race, gender, age, size, socio-economic status, or any reason really, that makes them feel lonely and unwelcome.

  • The testimony should be no more than 2 pages long (12pt font, double spaced, Arial font).

  • The video should be a maximum of 5 minutes long, and 200 MB in size.  Accepted formats:  AVI, FLV, WMV, MOV, MP4.  Cite background music and/or composer if any.

All submission must be received by Monday, December 10, 2018. All students are allowed to submit individual entries, or to collaborate in a joint entry, and may seek the help of parents or older siblings.

To submit your entry digitally, email your testimony or video to special.education@oaktonPTA.net.

To submit a hard copy, deposit it in the “Inclusion Awareness Week Contest” box in the front office.

Winners will receive a Ben & Jerry’s gift card!
